Week 6

Week 6-   Bad luck again :(

Again, we were unable to go to Sydenham for transport reasons, and because the week before, we had slight complications the day we arrived at the wrong venue. We were still waiting for a callback since then.
We ended up getting a callback but yet transport had stopped us once again from going.
This has again, left us disappointed and more frustrated.

Group Volunteer work

Week One- A normal class .We did a spread sheet about measuring the distances of places we visit on a daily basis. Another activity we did was look at volunteer websites and got an insight of what volunteer work might be like. It was interesting to see what opportunities were available.

Week 2

Week Two- As a group of five , we started a search for places we could do volunteer work. Wefound a place( Little Poppets Childcare centre). Abruptly we find out the place is full and could no longer allocate to the five of us. This left us feeling disappointed and stress on the group because we'd been going through so many childcares and all were booked or full. Although this happened, we managed to pull through and persevere in finding a new place.

Week 3

Week Three- Togetherwe are continuing to find a places to do our volunteer work. So far we are lucky enough to have possibly a place ( Sydenham Hill Side primary), but don’t wont to get our hopes up too high. We are now waiting for a call back. Although throughout this week we willconsistently search for places to do volunteer work just in case for a back up option.

Week 4

Week Four- Success at last :
We received a call back from Sydenham, so happy and ecstaticeverything turned out as planned. We organised transport and left toSydenham at approximately 1.20 and arrived at 1.40. Once we arrived, we got straight into the work, they split us into pairs.

Diana and I had been placed in a class were we helped the children with their art work. We were consistently occupied with helping any child who needed help.At the end of the activity we did a big clean together with the children and then set off for home. It was a great experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed helping the kids. The highlight of the day was the kids were very grateful and appreciative of my help.

I also began work on the presentation that will highlight the services that Brimbank City Council provide. I will be concentrating on the services that it provides for the neighbourhood.

Week 5

Unlucky: no transport :(

Unfortunately this week, transport has been a huge barrier for us. There was no way of getting there, so we couldn’t do our volunteer work as planned. It has been a major setback for our group and has been really disappointing.

We are now currently in class, working on our surveys and other incomplete work.
